Board of Directors

The AMSA Board of Directors is elected by the membership of the association. Each year, a nominations committee puts forward at least two candidates for each position being elected.

The board consists of the Executive Committee (President-Elect, President, Past President and Treasurer) and nine directors. The directors serve two-year terms. The Executive Director is the chief staff officer of the association and serves as an exofficio member of the board.

Board members' terms begin at the end of the annual Reciprocal Meat Conference.

Steve Goll has served on the Board of Directors since 2015. He is currently Director of Research and Development at Tyson Foods, Inc.


 Rhonda Miller
 

Rhonda Miller, Ph.D. 
President Elect

Rhonda Miller has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. Rhonda is a professor in the meat science section in the Department of Animal Science. She holds appointments on the Faculty of Food Science and Technology and the Graduate Faculty of Nutrition.

Bucky Gwartney has served on the Board of Directors since 2014. He is currently an International Marketing Specialist at USDA-AMS, Livestock, Poultry & Seed Program.

Treasurer

Steve Campano is the newly elected Treasurer for the association and has served on the board both as director and president.  He is Vice President for Research and Development at Hawkins.

Robert Maddock has served on the Board of Directors since 2015. He is currently an Associate Professor and Extension Meats Specialist at  North Dakota State University

Lauren Sammel has served as Director since 2014. She is currently Sr. Associate Principal Scientist at Johnsonville Sausage.

Dan Schaefer has served on the Board of Directors since 2014 and will be RMC Chair in 2016. He is currently Vice President, By Products at Cargill.

Amy Steward has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. She is a Principal Scientist at Tyson Foods for the McDonald’s Research and Development team.
