Why do you want to be on the AMSA Student Membership Board of Directors and what qualifications make you the best candidate for the position?

I want to be on the AMSA Student Membership Board of Directors because I want to continue to develop my leadership skills and relationships within the meat science community. I believe that I am a qualified candidate due to the fact that I have been active within the AMSA and attended multiple RMC's. Furthermore, after being an active member of the host committee for RMC 2016, I saw first hand the importance of accepting a leadership role and taking ownership of our successes, as well as our failures. Personally, I believe that for one to be a successful leader they must not dwell on their successes, but rather focus on their failures and let them be lessons to guide future decisions.

What does your AMSA membership mean to you?

My AMSA  membership  means a lifetime of connections  that I can call upon in times of need, and conversely, allow me to be called upon in my colleagues time of need. Through  AMSA  I have developed  relationships  with  people  that  have become my mentors. Being a part of AMSA is more than being a part of an organization,  it is getting to be a contributing  member  to a bank of knowledge.
AMSA has given me the opportunity to make friends and meet experts within the field of meat science, expand my network, and create opportunities for a successful job in the future.
