Why do you want to be on the AMSA Student Membership Board of Directors and what qualifications make you the best candidate for the position?

At Oklahoma State University, I have been fortunate to work under Morgan Pfeiffer, the current AMSA Student Membership President. While working with her, she has encouraged me to become more involved in the American Meat Science Association. By attending events held by AMSA, I have been introduced to a knowledgeable group of people who are all passionate about the meat industry and more importantly, creating safe wholesome products to feed the world. These outstanding role models, made me want to be a part of the AMSA Student Membership Board. I believe that my experience and passion for the industry set me apart and qualify me for this position. Additionally, I have a drive to learn and support other AMSA members to ensure they gain the same outstanding experiences I have.

What does your AMSA membership mean to you?

My first experience with the American Meat Science Association was in 2016 during my first collegiate meats judging competition. It only took a banquet for me to realize all the opportunities that AMSA had to offer. Later that spring, I attended my first conference, the Student Leadership Conference in Kansas City. The numerous people that I had the opportunity to meet and the experiences that I have had in the last year have given me confidence in the industry that I have so much passion for. For me personally, my AMSA membership means opportunity. My membership has given me the opportunity to make lifelong friends and connections, the opportunity to experience many different aspects of the meat industry, and most importantly, my membership has given me the opportunity to be a part of a large group of people who all share the same goals and passion.
