Drew Cassens is currently a Master of Science student at Texas A&M under the direction of Dr. Jeff Savell and Dr. Kerri Gehring. Originally from Burleson, Texas he was heavily involved in both FFA and 4-H, competing in many different judging and leadership activities and raised registered Santa Gertrudis cattle. Drew received his bachelors degree at Texas A&M in 2015 and was heavily involved with the meat science section, participating on the 2013 Meat Judging Team and the 2015 Quiz Bowl Team. In his graduate program he has been involved with many research studies including the National Beef Quality Audit, Tenderness Survey and researched the Impact of Elevated Aging Temperature on Tenderness, Shelf Life and Consumer Acceptability of Beef. In addition, Drew continues to be involved in the meat judging program as the assistant coach of the 2015 team and currently the head coach of the 2016 Fightin' Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team.
