10-30 Year Planning Horizon: Core Ideology

Core ideology describes an organization’s consistent identity that transcends all changes related to its relevant environment. Core ideology consists of two notions: core purpose – the organization’s reason for being – and core values – essential and enduring principles that guide an organization.

 Core Purpose (Mission)

To foster community and professional development among individuals who create and apply science to efficiently provide safe and high quality meat*.

*The term meat is defined for usage in this document as red meat (beef, pork and lamb), poultry, fish/seafood and meat from other managed species.

Core Values

We value active participation and contributions of time and effort by members to the success of AMSA.

We value the experience and diversity of our domestic and international members.

We use objective, knowledge-based decision making in the management of our organization.

We value independent deliberative, science-based decision making in the development of policy, applications and technology.

We value the association's independence, credibility and integrity.

We value collaboration within the association.
