A fund-raising drive for establishing a mentor recognition fund in the name of R.C. Pollock was started in December 2006. As President of the National Live Stock and Meat Board, R. C. Pollock was instrumental in the founding of the Reciprocal Meat Conference and the American Meat Science Association.

The funds raised from the mentor recognition are used to endow the AMSA R.C. Pollock Award, the highest honor that AMSA bestows.
