Houston Livestock and Rodeo Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest

  • Dates: 02 – 03 Mar, 2019

The 40th Annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019.  Martin Preferred Foods will host the contest and the official hotel will be the Crowne Plaza River Oaks, 2712 Southwest Freeway.  The reservation number is:  1-800-227-6963 (ask for the HLSR Intercollegiate Meats Judging block).  The coach’s meeting (no dinner) will be in the hotel on Friday evening, and the awards breakfast will be held Sunday Morning at NRG Arena on the show grounds.

Texas A&M University will have practice classes available for your team on Friday, March 1, 2019. Please contact Mr. Ray Riley at 979-845-5652 or r-riley@tamu.edu for further information.

Each coach and contestant must bring with them to the contest a Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement (enclosed).  Please have one filled out for each person when you register the morning of the contest.

To enter, complete and submit the entry form.

·       Your entry, information form and payment must be received by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo no later than February 5, 2019. 

·       If you cannot get the entry by this time please contact Alisa Luckey at luckey@rodeohouston.com  and she will work with you to get your entry in, however a late fee will apply and no entries will be accepted after February 15, 2019.  Your hotel room reservation needs to be made directly with the Crowne Plaza.  Reservations can be made by calling:  1-800-227-6963 The room block is:  HLSR Intercollegiate Meats Judging.

·        If you need rodeo tickets, they need to be purchased in advance.  When your entry is received, you will be contacted by HLSR regarding ticket requests.
