This webinar will provide an overview of different omics and discuss some of the terminologies used in omics approach. In addition, the webinar will discuss examples of how omics can be used to understand complex meat quality traits.

Ranjith Ramanathan, or Ram is an Associate Professor of Meat Science, Department of Animal Science at Oklahoma State University. Ram’s research focus on both fundamental and applied factors that influence fresh meat quality; more specifically on the postmortem biochemistry and meat color. He has utilized proteomics and metabolomics techniques to understand meat color issues. Dr. Ramanathan has secured a total of $1.6 million as a PI and Co-PI from federal agencies, commodity groups, and industry. He received several national awards including 2019 American Chemical Society Young Scientist Award and 2018 USDA New Teacher Award from the Association of Public Land Grant Universities.
