The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will conduct monthly live educational webinars highlighting all the services the Livestock and Poultry Program (L&P) provided to the Meat and Poultry Industry. During this webinar the presenters will give an overview of Meat Nomenclature and what goes into creating a standardized approach for the naming meat cuts. 



Patrick Fleming is a Brand Specialist with Midan Marketing. With his plethora of knowledge of all thing’s pork, you might say that Patrick is a modern day “Pork Yoda.” He has held a number of key positions in the industry, including Area Business Manager at Johnsonville®, Western Regional Sales Manager at Laura’s™ Lean Beef and Director of Retail Marketing at the National Pork Board. This experience serves him well in his position as Brand Specialist, where he is focused on maximizing branded beef and pork sales efforts for Tyson Fresh Meats.  At National Pork Board, Patrick directed the Pork contribution to the 2014 URMIS update. Patrick has had a passion for pork quality and the standards that support the industry.

Dave Shepard is owner of Meat Solutions, Inc., located in Loveland, Colorado.  For the last 27 years, Meat Solutions, Inc. has worked in the meat industry with URMIS and U.P.C. implementation, sales data management and software systems development. Meat Solutions, Inc., is the headquarters for meat data standardization and has championed projects with U.S. associations and organizations to bridge industry gaps and help create uniform standards to increase meat profitability and eliminate consumer confusion. Such projects include meattrack.com.   Dave’s team is home to products that streamline meat operation efficiencies, and mange brands, data, and standardization. They are tailored to all audiences in the industry.
