Alexander Stelzleni, Ph.D.

Alex Stelzleni is a Professor of Meat Science and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Georgia. Alex received his BS in Agriculture – Beef Production (Missouri State University), MS in Animal Sciences – Quantitative Breeding and Genetics (University of Arkansas), and his PhD in Animal Sciences – Meat Science (University of Florida). Alex teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on meat science and muscle biology. Alex’s primary research foci is centered on beef finishing systems in the Southeastern US and subtropical climates to improve efficiency, quality and yield; and improving the quality and safety of further processed meat products. Alex resides outside of Athens, Georgia with his wife and daughter.
