Food Scientist II, Nutrition Team
Tyson Foods, Inc.
Cindy joined the Nutrition team at Tyson Foods, Inc. in Fall of 2015 where she loves being part of a team and every day is different! She tracks and reports on current nutrition research and public policy (e.g. 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans Committee progress), represents Tyson on human nutrition research committees of the National Pork Board and the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) and is currently co-chair of the NAMI Health and Wellness Advisory Committee, provides nutrition information for National/Regional Accounts and other business units as needed to support her team, and assists with research substantiation for nutrition claims on innovation projects.
Before Tyson, Cindy worked 18 years as faculty in 2 accredited Dietetics programs (University of Arkansas, U of A, and University of Montevallo in Alabama), including past Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics at the U of A. Previously, she was a Clinical Dietitian in the Carraway hospital system in Birmingham, Alabama and completed a 1-year traineeship at the Nutrition Information Service at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Cindy finished her bachelor's degree in music and K-12 Teacher Education certification at Central Missouri State University, dietetic internship and Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition at UAB, and Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Health Education and Promotion with emphasis in Nutrition at the University of Alabama. Her dissertation research was in nutrition survey design and validation.
