2020 ICOMST/RMC PhD Course Registration

Thank you for your interest in the 2020 ICoMST Ph.D. Education Course, part of the ICoMST/RMC 2020 program. The organizing committee has created an outstanding Ph.D. Education course, which will occur on Friday and Saturday (July 31 - Aug. 1) before the ICoMST.  The event will feature 6 international meat experts and will be focused on two main topics – water holding capacity and oxidative stress.  Participants will work in small groups to design experiments to advance the state of knowledge on one of these topics, based on the information presented.  A few select scientific papers will be recommended for reading in advance to better prepare students for the activity.  The intent of the organizing committee is for the course to deliver Ph.D.-level instruction and to advance student learning and synthesis/integration of knowledge in meat science.  The opportunity to form international contacts and relationships is an added benefit to participation.  We hope to see you there!

Ph.D. students will be given priority acceptance into the course, but Masters students, Postdocs, and early career professionals may be invited to participate as space allows. Additionally, the committee will make an effort to ensure the course is comprised of a globally diverse group of participants. In that spirit, no more than two students from a particular university will be accepted initially. If space allows, additional students from a university may be invited to attend the course.  Applications are due May 15, 2020. Students will be notified of acceptance into the Ph.D. course and given payment instructions by June 1, 2020.  After notification of acceptance, the course fee of $150 USD will be due by June 12 or the space will be forfeited in order to allow others to attend.

What degree are you currently working toward? Priority will be given toward PhD students.

If currently a Masters student, do you plan to pursue a Ph.D.?

All students from a University should indicate the same University Contact Person. This person will be asked to rank students in the case that more than 2 students from a university apply.
Students will be divided into groups during the course and asked to complete a project proposal involving one of the two main topic areas. Which topic area would be your preference?
