AMSA Assumes Management of the Meat Buyer’s Guide (MBG)

AMSA is proud to announce we are partnering with Meat Institute to produce and distribute the Meat Buyer’s Guide (MBG) from the Meat Institute, ensuring its continued availability and future enhancements. A phased update is in progress, with the first print run of Edition 9 planned for January 2025 and a fully updated Edition 10 set for release in late 2025. The Meat Buyer’s Guide is an essential reference tool originally created to assist food service establishments and institutional purchasers in making informed meat and poultry selections. It includes detailed images and specifications for a variety of products commonly used in the industry, offering standardized terminology and item numbers to ensure consistent, reliable purchasing. This guide helps buyers specify their product requirements, aligning their needs with available options and is a tool for training anyone associated with meat.

Anyone who is interested in purchasing a Meat Buyer's Guide, will need to pre-order their copies by December 31, 2024. Guides will be printed and distributed in January 2025. This will be the only opportunity to purchase a copy until the next edition is completed in late 2025.
