AMSA Educational Webinar: Learn about the USDA-AMS Commodity Procurement Process

The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) hoted this webinar.

In this webinar, AMS employees, Hilary Cole and Darin Doerscher, gave an overview of the Agency’s commodity procurement program and demonstrate how technical requirements factor into bringing safe, wholesome red meat, poultry, egg and seafood commodities to their recipient-base.  Additionally, Dallas Hockman, National Pork Producers Council, spoke regarding the positive impact that Federal nutrition assistance programs have had on the pork industry.

Presenters:

Hilary Cole is the Division Director for the Proteins, Grains, and Oilseeds Procurement Division within Agricultural Marketing Service's (AMS) Commodity Procurement Program.

Darin currently serves as the Chief of the Food Safety and Technology Branch within the Livestock and Poultry (LP) Program.

Dallas Hockman is the vice president, industry relations, for the National Pork Producers Council.
