Drew Cassens

Drew Cassens is currently a Master of Science student graduating in August 2017 at Texas A&M under the direction of Drs. Jeff Savell and Kerri Gehring. After the completion of his Master degree, Drew will be continuing his education by pursing a Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University under the direction of Dr. Gretchen Mafi. Originally from Burleson, Texas he was heavily involved in both FFA and 4-H, competing in many different judging and leadership activities and raised registered Santa Gertrudis cattle. Drew received his bachelors degree at Texas A&M in 2015 and was heavily involved with the meat science section, participating on the 2013 Meat Judging Team and the 2015 Quiz Bowl Team. In his graduate program he has been involved with many research studies including the National Beef Quality Audit, Tenderness Survey and researched the Impact of Elevated Aging Temperature on Tenderness, Shelf Life and Consumer Acceptability of Beef as well as the many extension activities hosted by Texas A&M. In addition, Drew continues to be involved in the meat judging program as a coach of the 2015 and 2016 Fightin' Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team. Drew looks forward to serving this year as the AMSA Student Board President and continuing his education at Oklahoma State University.
