Midwest Trevor DeHaan 2020
My name is Trevor DeHaan, and I am serving as your Midwest Director for the 2020 – 2021 AMSA Student Board. I grew up in the small town of Taylor, Missouri on my families diversified livestock operation where we raised Angus cattle and club lambs. In addition, I was heavily involved in 4-H and FFA and showed cattle, sheep, and market goats at livestock exhibitions across the country. Raising livestock is something I am very passionate about and hope to be able to continue to do so throughout my lifetime. After graduating high school, I attended Kansas State University where I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in May 2019. I am currently in the second year of my master’s program at South Dakota State University where I am specializing in Meat Science under Dr. Keith Underwood. I also coached the 2020 SDSU Meat Judging Team and am excited to be coaching our 2021 team as well starting this coming January. My favorite part of AMSA is the countless opportunities for networking that it allows students to have. Between conferences like SLC and RMC, students are able to meet and make connections with not only students from other universities, but professionals as well that all share a love and passion for the same industry. One thing that I have enjoyed about serving on the Student Board so far is that I am able to come together with students from other schools and AMSA Staff to try and provide members with great social events and learning opportunities!
