The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will conduct live educational webinars highlighting all the services the Livestock and Poultry Program (L&P) provides to the Meat and Poultry Industry.

AMSA Educational Webinar: How Food Safety and Certification Activities Support USDA Foods

In this webinar, L&P Program employees from SSD and QAD employees Samantha Rhoderick and Mike Lopez led a discussion on the Further Processing Certification Program and how it compliments Federal nutrition assistance programs.

In this webinar, L&P Program employees from SSD and QAD employees Samantha Rhoderick and Mike Lopez led a discussion on the Further Processing Certification Program and how it compliments Federal nutrition assistance programs.  Additionally, they outlined the oversight options employed to assure the specified level of quality is reflected in the finished product. Wrapping up was Dr. Jennifer McKean-Beasley and Steven Wilson, from FSIS and NOAA, that play a collaborative role in USDA Foods.

 

Presenters:

Mike Lopez, Field Operations Supervisor in Republic, Missouri.  

Dr. Jennifer Beasley-McKean, DVM is currently the District Manager of the USDA FSIS Office of Field Operations Dallas District.

Samantha Rhoderick is the Assistant National Poultry Supervisor with Livestock and Poultry (LP)’s Standards and Specifications Division (SSD).  

Mr. Steven Wilson is currently the Chief of the Seafood Inspection Program for the Office of International Affairs and Seafood Inspection.
