kasterCollette Kaster, M.S.

 Chief Executive Officer: is responsible for AMSA business affairs, strategic vision, continuing education, partnership programs, and governance.

Collette Schultz Kaster joined AMSA as the first Chief Executive Officer in 2019. She brings more than 25 years of technical experience in the areas of food safety, quality assurance, and animal welfare and executive roles managing teams across livestock industry companies and organizations. She most recently served as the Executive Director of the Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization (PAACO). Collete and her husband Dennis live in the Kansas City area with their daughters, Sophie and Sam. 

 

MabryDeidrea Mabry, M.S.

Chief Operating Officer:oversees all operational and administrative functions as well as educational programs and communication including RMC technical program, PORK 101, SALUMI 101, webinars. 

Deidrea Mabry joined the AMSA staff in 2007 as Program Director, from 2013-2018 she has served as the Director of Scientific Communications and Technical Programs and 2018-2019 as Associate Executive Director for and in 2019 she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University where she earned her Bachelor and Master of Sciences degrees in Animal Science. Prior to joining AMSA staff she worked for the office of the President at Texas Tech and completed a congressional internship in Washington, D.C. as part of her studies. She and her husband Casey live in Fort Worth area with their daughters Reyse, Avery and Brooklyn.

Leslie Frenzel, Ph.D.

Director of Youth Programs: is responsible for leading the execution of strategies for the next generation of competitive youth educational programs including Intercollegiate, FFA, and 4-H meat judging programs as well as expanding educational programs for future generations of meat scientists. 

Leslie Frenzel joined AMSA as the Director of Youth Programs in March of 2021.  She earned her Bachelor and Master of Sciences degrees in Animal Science from Tarleton State University, Stephenville, TX.  She continued her education at Texas A&M University earning her doctorate degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in Meat Science and Food Safety.  Previously, Leslie was an Instructional Assistant Professor, Departmental Internship Coordinator, and Intercollegiate Meat Judging Team Coordinator in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University.  Leslie and her husband Mark live in Bryan, Texas with their children Laurel, Grant, and Audrey.

CrystalAhrensCrystal Ahren, M.S.

Director of Outreach and Education: will oversee the development and implementation of AMSA projects and programs leading the effort to identify and design programs and products to meet member needs; publicize meat science opportunities; and disseminate critical scientific information to a broad range of constituents. 

Crystal Ahrens joined the AMSA staff in 2021 as Director of Outreach and Education. She brings to AMSA passion and strong knowledge in meat science education and extension. Her experience encompasses instructing meat science at both two and four-year postsecondary institutions and implementing a well-rounded statewide youth meat science program with Lousiana 4-H. A graduate of the University of Arkansas and Tarleton State University. She is currently working on her doctorate at Louisiana State University.
