Technical Assistance Officer:  provides technical, scientific, business, and operational assistance and information to meat processors and other interested parties.

Dr. Robert Maddock joined AMSA in June 2022. Rob is a fourth-generation North Dakota farm kid, born and raised near Maddock, ND, where his family continues to farm and ranch. Rob served as State President of the North Dakota FFA Association in 1991-92. Rob earned his B.S. in Animal Science and M.S. in muscle biology at NDSU and a Ph.D. in Meat Science at Texas A&M University.

Previously, Rob was a Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at North Dakota State University, where he was on faculty from 2006 until 2022 after spending six years at South Dakota State University. Rob’s research included increasing the value of beef carcasses, meat processing, quality assurance, and food safety systems. In addition, Rob taught several courses about livestock and meat evaluation and marketing, meat processing, and food safety and coached and/or coordinated the NDSU Meats Judging team. Rob and his wife Tamra have four grown children and make their home in rural Cass county south of Fargo, ND.
