Sharon Beals

President-Elect Candidate

SKKB-LLC

Describe how your background and qualifications would help you be an effective leader of AMSA.

As a long time member of AMSA (40 years+), I have watched the organization grow from an academic centric, “members only (you needed two member nominations to be considered) club”, to a dynamic, inclusive (chicken, fish, and pet food!) professional organization. AMSA is an Association devoted to promoting the growth and development of the membership, (especially the students), as well as ensuring animal-based proteins continue to flourish and thrive as part of a healthy diet. Changing gears from manufacturing to consulting, has put me in a position to be able to provide the Association the time needed to continue the mission and values, as defined in the five core strategies.

What is your vision for AMSA in ten years?

First and foremost, that it continues to grow its outreach efforts, supported by the solid financial stability that has been built over the past few years. It can’t be said enough that without the dedication and tenacity of the AMSA staff, the Board and the Development Council, the continued growth of student programming, TAPS outreach plans and global impact, simply would not have been possible.

With that as the base, I foresee the continued global growth of the Association with members across the continents and affiliated memberships among similar organizations.

Last, that AMSA remains a beacon for science and facts regarding animal proteins feeding the planet while taking care of the planet; these are not mutually exclusive. AMSA is, and will continue to be, well equipped for this challenge through its core strategies and dedicated, science-based membership.
