Anna Wyle, of Boerne, Texas, is a senior animal science major, with a concentration in meat science and a minor in agricultural communications at Texas Tech University. As the daughter of two former collegiate meat judging coaches, Anna was exposed to meat judging at a young age and quickly took an interest in it. While her early experiences helped spark her passion for meat science, leading her to Texas Tech, the year she spent traveling with the 2023 Texas Tech Meat Judging Team helped solidify the impact that meat judging would have on her life and future plans. Through collegiate meat judging, Anna had countless opportunities to grow both personally and professionally, learning valuable life skills such as work ethic, leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking, while making memories and building relationships that will last far into her career. Moreover, Anna's meat judging experience helped her realize her desire to pursue a master's degree in meat science and ultimately a career in the meat industry. Anna is extremely grateful for the support of the Gary C. Smith Scholarship-Bellinger Foundation, as it will allow her to pursue her goal of higher education and give back to future competitive teams.
