Mackenzi Shattuck

American Royal- High Individual

Washington State University
My name is Mackenzie Shattuck, and I am from Pasco, Washington. I am currently a senior at Washington State University, pursuing my studies in agricultural education. When I began my journey at WSU, there was no meat science program in place. It has been a privilege to have been an integral part of the inaugural meat judging team at WSU in many years, actively contributing to the establishment and growth of the program. This experience has undeniably left a mark on my life, allowing me to forge invaluable connections and networks within the agricultural industry on a national scale. Beyond professional connections, this experience gifted me lifelong friendships with my teammates. As I anticipate my graduation in May 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, I aspire to continue my educational pursuits by pursuing a master’s degree, with graduate school options currently under consideration. The Gary C. Smith Scholarship will provide me support to pursue advanced education and allow me to focus wholeheartedly on my academic and career aspirations.
