Floyd McKeith, Ph.D., Candidate for Mentor Recognition

AMSA is proud to announce the formation of a Mentor Recognition fund in honor of Dr.  Floyd McKeith.

Dr. Floyd McKeith has built a distinguished career marked by a deep commitment to graduate education, industry-focused applied research, and dedicated mentorship. His work has addressed critical challenges within the meat industry, leading to meaningful advancements in both academic and commercial settings. At the University of Illinois and through his active involvement with the American Meat Science Association, Dr. McKeith served as a steadfast leader and advocate for scientific excellence. He successfully secured millions of dollars in competitive research funding and authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, contributing significantly to improvements in beef and pork quality across the industry.

Despite these substantial achievements, Dr. McKeith often reflected that his most meaningful professional legacy lies in the mentorship he provided to the many young professionals he guided throughout his career—many of whom have gone on to become influential leaders and accomplished scientists in their own right.

Specific Purpose of Funds:  To fund scholarships for AMSA undergraduate members with a career interest in the livestock and(or) meats industry.
