AMSA 77th RMC Breaks 1,000 Attendee Mark!

AMSA made history last week as we broke the RMC attendance record again and hosted over 1,050 attendees in Oklahoma City, OK for the 77th RMC and the AMSA 60th Birthday Celebration!

A special thank you to our Elite and Executive RMC Sponsors JBS/Pilgrims, Lopez Dorada, Cargill, Midan and Tyson Foods, along with all our other 2024 RMC sponsors listed below! Because of your support and dedication to the AMSA RMC, we were able to welcome over 1050 attendees, host 110 speakers, review 234 abstracts, stuff 850 snack bags for the local community, set a record with 37 quiz bowl teams representing 21 schools, engage with 133 students in the Iron Chef competition, have 101 compete in Processed Meat contest, watch 49 students compete in the ePoster contest, visit with over 60 vendors at the career/networking fair and host 36 suppliers in the RMC showcase . None of this would be possible without the support of our sponsors, hosts, attendees, staff and volunteers so thank you!

A special thank you goes to our co-hosts for the 77th RMC, Oklahoma State University and Lopez Dorada, led by Dr. Gretchen Mafi. The time and dedication you and your team put into planning all the details for the social and student events was truly amazing! You welcomed us with open arms and great hospitality, so thank you for rolling out the red carpet and going above and beyond to welcome us all to OKC!

Next up is a special thank you to Dr. Jeff Sindelar from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Thank you for dedicating your time to helping make the 77th RMC a true success and bringing together the meat science community. As you stated in your welcoming announcement, “The RMC marks the beginning of a philosophical and science-based knowledge transformational journey for some and a continuation and revitalization for so many others.” AMSA is proud to be the premier scientific organization for Meat Science, we stand solid on the research platform that underpins all that we do in this industry. As members of the animal and meat industries, the annual AMSA RMC IS the forum for us to learn, exchange, challenge, and “imagine that.” So, thanks Dr. Sindelar for helping us all “imagine that.”

Thank you to all the 2024 RMC chairs, co-chairs, and volunteers of our technical program and student events. The program that our volunteers put together had “something for everyone” and was a scientific program we all enjoyed. With 3 high-impact keynote speakers, an international lectureship award winner presentation, 6 concurrent sessions (following newly developed “tracks” ranging from muscle biology to innovation, discovery, and idea generation in meat science), over 40 reciprocation sessions, 20 tech talks and 4 workshops…we had the science and learning to share!

Thank you to our members! Thank you for coming to the 77th RMC and for participating in all the different events we showcased last week. From the student events to the career fair, the technical sessions, and everything in between, your participation is vital to the success of these programs and the networking that takes place. The RMC supplier showcase, and the tech talks helped enhance the experience and knowledge of our sustaining partner and supplier coalition members. Thanks to everyone who had a booth and presented a talk. These unique opportunities make RMC a valuable learning experience for our attendees.

Now you might be asking, what’s next? For starters, make sure to mark your calendar and make plans to attend the 2025 RMC that will take place June 22-25, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio! If you missed the 2025 Welcome Video, check it out below!
