North Central Meat Animal Evaluation Contest

The contest will be held March 8–9, 2027, and will take place at the historic Doug Parrett Memorial Arena, located at 1402 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Urbana, IL 61801. We hope this contest will provide students with a unique and competitive learning experience as they prepare for the National Meat Animal Evaluation Contest.

2027 National Meat Animal Evaluation Contest

The 2027 National Meat Animal Evaluation Contest is scheduled on April 11-13, 2027 at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS.

  • Event Registration Deadline: February 24, 2027 ($100 late fee will be added after 2/26)
  • Team Registration: https://amsa.site-ym.com/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=1993954&group=
  • Entry Fees: $500 per school + $25.00 per person (Coaches and Students)
  • Sample calculation of entry fee, including alternates & coaches. 1 team (10 students), 2 alternates, 2 coaches
  • $500 + ($25 * 12 students) + ($25 * 2 coaches) = $850

  • Early Morning:Market Animal Division (Location: Bilbrey Family Event Center)
  • Late Afternoon: Communications Division (Location: Weber Hall / Western Star)

Monday, April 12, 2027

  • 10:00am: Breeding Animal Division (Location: Bilbrey Family Event Center)

Tuesday, April 13, 2027

  • Late Morning: Meats Division (Location: Kansas State University Meat Lab)
  • 6:30pm: Awards Banquet (Location: Stanley Stout Center)

 Contest Timing: 15 minutes/class- Market Division; 10 minutes/class- breeding division; 10 minutes/class- meats division

    Contest Rules

    2027 Meat Animal Evaluation Contest Rules

    • Standardized KPH on all market beef animals to 2.5%
    • Removed the statement preventing mutton from being in the meat judging lamb cx class
    • Changed the warm-up period on the market division to 30 min
