Jessica is currently a graduate student at the University of Florida working towards a master’s degree in Animal Sciences, specializing in meat science and food safety, under the supervision of Dr. Jason Scheffler. Jessica grew up in Clearwater, FL with her mother, father, and younger brother. She was actively involved in competitive soccer, traveling all across the United States, and in her free time enjoyed boating and fishing with her family. Her research is focused on improving the food safety of the meat supply chain in Ethiopia. Jessica earned her B.S. in Animal Sciences from the University of Florida in 2019, where she was first introduced to meat science when she competed on the 2017 UF Meat Judging Team. After that she was hooked and continued on to help coach the 2018 and 2019 UF Meat Judging Team, and eventually ran for the AMSA Student Board in 2019. Jessica has enjoyed the opportunity to grow and become a part of the AMSA family and hopes to extend those same opportunities to students across the country.
